This is a great advert that really highlights how the use of palm oil is destroying the Orangutans’ habitat.  It’s pretty powerful and moving.

You can see the advert here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdpspllWI2o

But it’s been banned by the tv regulators.

If you agree this shouldn’t have been banned there is a petition here: https://www.change.org/p/release-iceland-s-banned-christmas-advert-on-tv-nopalmoilchristmas?recruiter=49075510&utm_campaign=signature_receipt&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=share_petition&fbclid=IwAR2c4ainZomsoGPMqxDb_Te6yLAdyvfmX3sKSkUJ8C8pauZNGQWA1_pKztw

    Thanks

Seems Cadbury’s are at it as well. Suppliers to Cadbury’s raping and devestating Orangutan habitat for Palm Oil.  Personally, I’m trying to look at alternative choc. to Cadbury, now it’s in forefront of my mind to do so.  https://www.independent.co.uk/environment/orangutans-palm-oil-habitat-rainforest-cadbury-mondelez-oreos-indonesia-greenpeace-a8630801.html?fbclid=IwAR2dkKTuYmAxhFWOx1Rz8EJWmDzxzpQ6DpsUVhYkaf993824q6jZlMNLtRI

I’ll perhaps report back on what choc is without palm oil after i do a bit of research.

Still madness that it’s been banned.

I’m not vegan, or vegetarian but have to have non dairy foods due to dietary restrictions. I discovered all vegan spreads (bitter substitutes) contain palm oil. How is that vegan? It isn’t.

I’ve not looked into chocolate, as I rarely buy it. What about vegan chocolate and vegan Fair Trade chocolate, such as Moo Free?

You are killing orangutans by buying… just about anything.

There is an organisation who are trying to promote the sustainable production of palm oil – ie no deforestation.

Companies who use palm oil in their products can certify that they only use sustainable sources by being audited by the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) and getting the certificate and logo.

Unfortunately companies using palm oil are not coming under sufficient consumer pressure to move to sustainable sources.
